While in New York a couple of weeks ago, I had the pleasure of discussing a vintage-flavored and mouthwatering topic with a friend who was the prop manager on the new Men in Black film. If you’ve seen the film, you might have noticed a table filled with beautiful and authentic desserts and dishes from the 1960s…that was all him! He reminded me of all the mid-century goodies served up on special occasions…the classic holiday ham my Grandmother used to bake, meticulously decorated with pineapple rings and maraschino cherries straight from the can. And the desserts, oh the terrible desserts. Bundt cake and upside down pineapple cake and my how they loved their canned pineapple rings back then.
So here are photos and accompanying recipes for some of the mid-century treasures we reminisced over. What do you say we all throw a 1960′s themed party and decorate the dining room table with them?

These images look delicious!
I love bundt cakes and I am planning on making deviled eggs after work today! I use horseradish in mine so they are hot hot hot. You forgot jello molds!
ha, I was thinking of including them!! But then I was like, nah I have too many “molded” foodstuffs on the list… But you’re right; I should’ve included it (esp with the kind with the fruit) because EVERYTHING they made was in a mold, haha. Mmm, I’ll have to put horseradish in my next batch; why didn’t I think of that! Thanks for the tip
